Our focus is to tap into the healing power of nature to restore joy and happiness to life. Whether it's due to the loss of a loved one, divorce, job loss, anxiety or other life challenges, the drama and trauma of life can leave us feeling stuck. It can be difficult to motivate ourselves to get outside and let the endorphins created through movement heal our mind and body.
My experience with outdoor groups has shown me that people who exercise in nature--whether it's the mountains, the desert, or even a walk in the park--experience significant relief from depression, feel less anxious and stressed, and generally feel a renewed sense of happiness, than those who exercise indoors. Add to that the wonderful endorphins that hiking creates, and it's possible to go from hopeless to joyful in a very short time.
Out 2 Live activities range from beginner walks and hikes, to more advanced activities that include slot canyons, backpacking, camping and mountain biking. Some of the activities will include meditation, mountaintop yoga, or simply sharing encouragement and experiences around a campfire. And along the way, lifelong friendships will be made.

We can't do much as individuals, but a working alliance of citizens and legislators can move mountains.

Welcome to everyone who is an organic gardening enthusiast (past, present, or future), who wants to share the joys of gardening - home, apartment, or in community. Come share your experience, and we'll share ours with you.
I have wanted to be in a book club for a long time, but cringe when my friends tell me their clubs are reading "Diaries of a Shoppaholic" and the like. I love to read, but feel like I have a more and more difficult time finding books that I really love. I would like to start a group that could meet monthly and, in addition to the typical pick a book, read and discuss, talk in general about books we love and why. Perhaps every other meeting we could pick a book to read that either one member loves and believes that no one's life could be complete without having read it - or even a book a member is dying to discuss with others. I think it would be nice to do a mix of "classics" (not in the Greek sense) and modern lit.
Books I love run the spectrum from War and Peace to Girl with a Dragon Tattoo. Books I would put outside my spectrum include Moby Dick (God bless you if you could get through the whole thing) and pretty much anything with a pink or baby blue cover (e.g. "chick lit"). I think it goes without saying that not every book club is a fit for every book lover. We all love different kinds of books. I would like to start a club for people who like to read fiction not just for entertainment, but to see the world in a new way, whether that is just a different time, different place, different set of attitudes and insights, etc.. If we become close friends, that would be a huge bonus.
If this looks like the group for you, I hope you will give it a try! I would like a group that not only selects books to read and discuss, but also occassionally discusses books more generally. Here are some kinds of example discussion I would envision:
-Has any book of fiction changed the way you see yourself? How?
-Ten books of fiction you would take with you to prison (not for barter or shiv making instructions mind you)
-Is there one book that you truely love and want to share with others? Mine is the Agony and the Ecstacy, by the way.

This group is about getting amateur flag football fans together to enjoy a friendly game and get some fresh air and have some fun! We're open to everyone who enjoys the sport. The only requirement is that that you abide by the meaning of "friendly" as defined below.
"Friendly" means sometimes you might end up on the losing team, and you have to be OK with that. This isn't the NFL. This group is not for hyper-competitive players who want to win at any cost. Being on the losing team doesn't necessarily make anyone a bad athlete.
We play weekly at 9:00 AM on Sundays for about 2.5 hours. We'll keep playing into the winter as long as players keep showing up.

We are a group of ~200 adults that love to play soccer! We range in age from 18-60 years old, both men and women, ALL ability levels! Some players played in college, others played HS, and others that haven't even kicked a ball prior to playing with us! Some of us are coaches of kids teams that refuse to let them have all the fun! Sportsmanship is expected; we are competitive but friendly! The guy against you this week will often be your teammate next week. Slide tackles are a no-no, and so is anything else that puts players at risk of collision or injury. Newcomers are welcome.

We often have mid-week pickup games, but the majority of our play is on Saturday afternoons from mid-March til' late May, when we switch to Saturday MORNINGS to avoid the Brutal Utah Sun. In Late August we resume afternoon games which run until early November. If Winter is late we keep playing outdoors. We often play outdoors until Early December! When outside is finished we just move INSIDE! During winter if we get a thaw we play outside (in 2009 we played 3 weeks in February!)

Our meetings are free to attend and we invite not only folks involved in the testing and quality assurance of software but also software developers, managers, team leaders, project management and anyone else that has a interest in software quality tools, techniques, and processes.
Our meetings generally start at 5:30pm and last until about 7:30-8pm. Food (such as pizza/subs) and drinks are provided through our sponsor TEKSystems. This is a great place to network with other professionals and learn more about the tricks and tools of your trade.
We are all here to play tennis and have a great time. We welcome everyone who wants to play. Skill levels are all over the place. If you are a true beginner than we would suggest you to take lessons. Some of the players here are very helpful for beginners but for the most part its recommended that you have a skill level of at least 2.0. On average the skill level in the group seems to be about 3.0-3.5. That doesnt mean you won't find 4.0+ on here for a higher level of game.

Ever since our family of six went through our first of three lay offs several years ago, I've had a passion to learn how to live a very abundant life without spending much money. This group helps members acquire things they need/want by using their talents, skills, resources, abilities, knowledge and experience without using much money. Members are encouraged to develop a "Wish List" of goods and/or services. A second list will include what they have to offer in exchange. In hard economic times, learning how to barter and trade with a large network of people is invaluable. Regular meetings are held at a variety of locations throughout the Salt Lake Valley to help members develop their 2 lists AND to share their lists with others in the group. I am so excited to have started this group. We will meet twice a month or more to exercise, learn from trainers and health experts and learn some yummy low calorie recipes. I would love it if you could bring a friend or two that are in your circle of influence. We count heavily on Meetup for communications. It is vital to RSVP several days in advance for each meeting so we can plan and prepare for things like staffing enough childcare workers, setting up tables, food, etc. Moms will also have turns during the semester to bring food and help with setup and/or cleanup.

There are many resources available to aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners but many go unrecognized or underutilized while others increase costs without measureable benefit to the business.
Our group addresses issues facing small businesses in Utah in the context of Venture Strategic Planning. Focus is on action, based upon sound strategic planning. Our programs are built to provide education (knowledge and understanding) plus methods and tools to implement and execute programs and processes for REAL business development and improvement.
We will not hold meetings for the sake of filling a calendar and may seek venues around the area that will best suit the specific meeting. Some meetings may address needs of a specific segment of our members. Some meetings, for example, might focus on specific revenue generation actions for existing businesses while others might target processes for new ventures or emerging businesses.
Many programs wil be fee-based in order to cover basic costs but we will endeavor to keep them reasonable! Sponsorship will be sought where it is appropriate to do so but while we will have "partnership" programs we will not broker sponsorships for the sake of contributions. All "partners" will be qualified for participation and held to the highest standards.
Inputs and suggested topics or presenters are always welcome from our members!

This is a group interview for the photographer position. This position pays $12 per hour. You must be available to work 9:00 am to 8:00 pm M-Saturday. You won't work all of those hours but those are the hours of the studio. The position is full-time. I will train you as a photographer. You will work 40+ hours a week. This job is mentally, emotionally, physically difficult! But, it is very satisfying and rewarding. You will be appreciated by your customers.

We will practice asana (what most of us think of when we think of yoga, the physical postures), Pranayama (breath control, this helps still the mind, teaches us how to control our emotions, and calm anxiety), and Meditation/Concentration (This will be "guided meditation" which makes it much easier to learn how to meditate, and sit comfortably with the self).

The focus of this Meetup writers' group is not necessarily to create the Great American Novel, rather, to foster an environment of creativity and collaborative learning through mastering the fundamentals of short story writing. Each month we tackle a new genre or writing technique, share our research on the subject and put our learning to practical application in the form of an original short story, which is then lovingly critiqued by our peers. The objective is to hone individual skills while moving forward as a group.
Three simple rules apply: 1. No previous writing experience is necessary, but this is a serious writers' group – you must do the research and submit your creative writing samples for constructive criticism, 2. Getting your work published is (should be?) the ultimate personal goal, but is not the objective with this group – our purpose is to learn and share in a mutually supportive and intellectually engaging environment, and 3. You must have fun.

Zumba Has changed my life forever. I started just as an outlet to get girls, but it turned out to be the biggest blessing in my life. I have gotten my life in order, found a extremely healthy pass time, and never had so many friends in my life.

The IxDA is all about bringing interaction designers together. The life of a designer is a busy one and we may not all be able to meet face to face as often as we'd like. This group site will help local IxDA members communicate, share ideas, inspire each other and hopefully help facilitate friendships around our passion for great design.
Our family of 3 has been camping for the past several years and have had some choice memories. There are hundreds of different places to camp and hike around Utah that most citizens never experience. We have hiked a lot of these and have some amazing places that we would love to share with you! With newer technology you can camp year round with your kids and have an enjoyable time.
We usually do Central and Southern Utah in the late fall and winter months and Northern Utah in the spring and summer months. You don't have to have any experience with hiking or camping to join the group. We will provide directions, camping checklists, tips, and hikes we will go on and it is up to you to make the reservations for your campsite (if any) and to provide shelter, clothing, and food. We almost always are back on Sunday but you can stay longer if you want. There is a $12 a month fee to be an organizer of this group but I will not ask for any money. If you would like to give us a donation at one of the camp outs we would gladly accept this. We are not trying to make any money but wouldn't mind breaking even. Our main focus is to build lasting friendships with families of similar interests.

Snowshoe Festival with running events for just about any level, with the only Ultra snowshoe 50K race in the country all the way down to a 5K race. The other distances are 10K 25K and a Marathon. MISSION STATEMENT
Our LET'S TALK HEALTH group of dedicated professional volunteer presenters is dedicated to sharing information that will improve the lives of all American's – because without good health, all the "talk" isn't going to have much value. HEALTH IS BASIC TO HUMAN HAPPINESS. With the current healthcare status in the US, doctors and insurance companies don't always provide the "treatments, remedies, cures" we need in order to return our lives to healthy, harmonious and happy experiences. Many who suffer from diseases like cancer, even final stage diseases, don't realize there are actually decent alternatives to the mainstream options of chemo or, "it's too late, go home to die" scenarios. People with diabetes are often suffering unnecessarily while depending on their traditional health care providers for all the answers. Those suffering from MS and other autoimmune diseases (112) may be suffering lifelong battles that never had to be fought!
THERE ARE OPTIONS AND ALTERNATIVES. NUTRITION AND OXYGEN AND SUPPLEMENTS AND ALL SORTS OF UNCONVENTIONAL CHOICES THAT FEW PEOPLE ARE AWARE OF. OUR GOAL IS TO PRESENT YOU WITH THIS INFORMATION SO YOU CAN HAVE MORE CHOICES TO CHOOSE FROM.

We are working towards supporting and improving our communities and promoting the ancient landmarks and values of Freemasonry since receiving our charter on January 21, 1896. These values are just as important today as they were over a hundred years ago, perhaps even more-so considering the fast pace world that we live in as modern day man. The values and ancient traditions of Freemasonry provide men with a firm foundation for moral strength, honest friendship, and valuable direction for their responsibilities as fathers, brothers, sons, and friends.
A great way to keep our dogs (and ourselves) exercised and socialized with others who have the same interests. We will mainly hike our local trails here in Park City but will also schedule special hikes at other locations. We will schedule 4 hikes each month but encourage our members to add hikes, as well as suggest locations that would make for good hikes.
Starting off slow we hope to gain enough members by summer to have a consistent group of hikers to explore the outdoors with us. That way we can plan picnics, day hikes and camping trips that will be another benefit of having a nice group of people to go with.

Responsible dog owners and well behaved dogs are welcome. It is in the best interest of all concerned for all dogs attending to be spayed or neutered.
I'm a stay-at-home mom who would rather discuss sasquatch, alternative medicine, and the (non?) existence of god than soccer and potty training. This group is for any skeptical-type people willing to read one skeptical or science-themed book a month (ranging from serious to silly--I'm open to suggestions all over the spectrum) and discuss it over snacks and drinks. This meetup will host regular temple tours at the downtown Salt Lake Masonic Temple, meetups in Park City at Ruby Tuesdays on the second Tuesday of each month, and meetups at the downtown Cafe on 1st on the third Tuesday of each month, as well as many other Masonic events open to the public.

Nancy and Rochelle,we are a married couple in Orem, Utah. We were married in California three years ago. We were both raised LDS and have a very strong spiritual and service oriented life. We provide various classes and get togethers for the community. Classes range from all of our Specialties. Nancy is a teacher of Crainal Sacral Therapy, Allergy Release, Family Alignments. Rochelle and Nancy are both Reiki Master Teachers, and teach all levels of Reiki training. Rochelle is a Certified Firewalk Instructor and has occasional firewalks. Rochelle has earned her B.S. From Utah Valley University, in Art and Visual Communications. Rochelle is teaching various art classes, and is passionate about supporting other artists. We are Deeksha blessing givers. We do drumming circles and group parties on occasion. We love you all and invite you to come join us.
On the first Thursday of each month we meet for lunch, discuss the books we read during the previous month, and announce the theme/topic for the next month. We don't read a certain book, rather each individual chooses a book that fits the theme. That way, we each get introduced to a much larger collection of tomes. Anyone who enjoys reading business books is welcome to participate. There are no dues, just show up to the lunch and join the conversation. 10. Buying a bamboo plant and going to a deeksha class
11. Learning the true nature of the universe
12. Learning the Mayan calendar
13. Learning what the Chakras are
14. Learning what a light warrior; crystal child, Channeler, and light healer really do
15. Lastly, beginning a Spiritual Journey as never before.
I would have told you that you need to lay off the sauce (strong drink) and to get a real life.
I have lead what I consider to be an ordinary life, no UFO/Alien experiences, no angel or spirit visitations, no signs from the heavens, no cataclysmic survival experiences, no out of body travels, and no earth shaking visions. That being said everything that I have experienced has come by reading; studying, praying, trying, attending applying, and knowing in my heart.
Even before I heard about vibrating at higher frequencies to go to other dimensions of existence, I had already come to that conclusion. Before I read about Roswell New Mexico and Aliens I knew we were not alone in the universe. Even after I was schooled in the art of Religion, I knew that there was something more. As a child I hated school and I hated church and I was considered an unruly and hyper active kid (ADHD) I loved to be outdoors but hated being dirty.
As I have grown up I have heard and seen so many things with advancements in technology, medicine, and ever changing religion that I have come to the conclusion that all I need to ask is one question.
"For What Purpose"
In other words," to what end"? How does having a knowledge that aliens exist or that Atlantis was a real city change my life? How does a rock or a tree or an animal affect what I am going to eat for dinner? How does knowing a date on a calendar prepare me for a life changing event, and my favorite, how do I know that when I die, I just don't cease to exist.
I have spent money to have a physic tell me that changes are coming; I have spent a lot of hours reading and studying about holy men that lived thousands of years ago and how they knew more about Spirituality then we do today, I have spent a lot of time on my knees asking questions and hoping for answers that were just out of my reach.
"For What Purpose"
All my life people have taught me, told me, encouraged me, shown me, disciplined me, and forced me to accept that what I can see with my own eyes is real and everything else is just a belief. All my life I have been taught that you cannot survive without rules and regulations and restrictions that "teach us" how to be good people and how to have real "Freedom" All my life I have been taught that everyone is different and that the only things that we share is that we are the same species, I am to respect other peoples beliefs/Culture, but never to never ask why and to never let it affect my own.

I ask you my friend's can you look me in the eye and tell me that I am wrong? Can you tell me that everything that I believe is false and that there is no destination to walk to? Can you tell me with all sincerity of your heart that there is no such thing as; hope, love, peace, kindness, joy, forgiveness, despair, hate, chaos, greed, fear, resentment, I not talking about God or Devil, I am talking about feelings. Can you say that nothing really matters; you have no control over your own destiny and that I have no meaning, no purpose, and no future beyond what I see in front of my eyes?

The answer to the question is one you will have to answer on your own; all I can tell you is what I have learned in my short period of life and little knowledge of the universe. The Purpose of my existence is to: Love, Learn, Try, Experience, Grow, Nurture, Expand, Achieve, Believe, Understand, Enlighten, Envision, Trust, Completeness, Apply, Receive, Administer, Compel, Seek, Ask, Coexist, Aspire, Train, Invoke, Touch, Laugh, Communicate, Gain, Overcome, Release, Enjoy, Help, Assist, Teach, Ponder, Meditate, Increase, Remove, Respond, Reply, Welcome, Display, Embrace, Gift, Resolve, and Empower.
Nothing that I mentioned had anything to do with negativity, control, or illusion yet they all can invoke a type of emotional response.
In some way I hope that I have given you something that will help you on your "journey beyond belief" and that with that you will pass it on to others so that we may be all better because we have shared something.

We are a fun bunco group and at this point we are only looking for reliable ladies who can commit to being "regulars" (attending games every month), so please consider this before joining.
Bunco (or bunko) is a simple dice game - easy to learn and fun to play! This bunco group is for adult females (18 years of age and older) who live in the Salt Lake City, UT area interested in meeting once a month to play bunco, enjoy a casual and fun night out with other nice ladies, and make friends. Beginners and guests of members are welcome.
We are different from the traditional bunco group: there is no hosting in your home and no arranging substitutes. We meet in a reserved private area at a public location (Elks Lodge of Murray UT) on the third Thursday of each month. We meet from 6:00-6:30 p.m. to socialize; the game begins at 6:30 p.m. and is usually completed between 8:30 and 9:00 p.m.
There are Points needed to play this game, of which rewards are given back to those who win the various categories of the game, i.e., Most Bunco's, Most Wins, 2nd Most Wins, 50/50, Most Losses, 2nd Most Losses.
The points needed are 11 each month (Ten points are used for prizes and one point is used to keep Meetup site available to members).
Each member has the responsibility to RSVP each month and then show up for the game! Failure to RSVP three consecutive times will be grounds for removal from this group.

Share, discuss, and evaluate your dreams in order to improve your depth awareness, growth and personal potential. Learn how to make your dreams a reality! To become a more regular lucid dreamer, it is necessary to focus on specific aspects of your dreams: learn these techniques in this group.
Keep a dream record to discover your consistency patterns and other valuable insights. Paint, draw, script, or sculpt your dreams. At each DREAMERS MEETUP, whether while dining, at the library or park or ski resort, or in someone's home, we will write down our most interesting recent dream, without our name on it, and pass it around to other dreamers who take their turn at interpreting the dream. Dreams owners remain anonymous. In this way, each dreamer can benefit from others viewpoints without exposing the inner working of his/her mind. Follow the trail, jot down the evidence, plot the premise, and if you are brave, reveal your dream to the group, allowing others to ask questions and make suggestions.
We will also practice the Freudian method of "free association", graphics, pictures and symbols to more fully grasp the relative nature of our dreams. We may include weekly dream webinars to help people in a more immediate way. There is a movement around the world that says we can have it all: beautiful places to live, sane places to work, and a fun community to interact with AND not ruin the earth in the process. This used to be the mantra of hippies or society drop-outs, but now it is hitting everyday people that there IS a better way to live. The purpose of our group is to educate ourselves and others on what it takes to build a sustainable community where we are now and in other areas AND ta-da to actually do it. We want to walk our talk. Even if you aren't interested in our particular intentional community, Safe Haven Village, this is a place to meet like-minded people, get ideas and have fun in the process.
The intent in starting this group is to connect with a small group of people (3-5) in the West Jordan area who share common interests and enjoy similar activities who are also interested in supporting and helping each other reach goals or remove barriers. This group will have a lighter side where we will choose to just relax and have fun as well as a serious side where we'll facilitate, motivate, cheer for, celebrate and hold each other accountable for reaching goals (big or small, crazy or sane...there's no definition for a good goal). If you are a woman in the West Jordan area who is ready to have some fun while reaching your goals, come join us! Activities currently on my "fun to do" list include golf, snowshoeing, working out, reading, writing poetry, movies, and enjoying intellectually stimulating conversation over food and wine. I am always open to expanding my list of things I enjoy doing though so if you share some but not all of that list, don't be afraid to join. One of my current goals is to get more of my poetry published and I could use a group of friends to hold me accountable for taking steps in that direction. We all need to be able to release and let go of feelings and emotions yet very few people really know how. Learning this powerful and healthy skill can improve your energy, your attitude, your life! Releasing old or stuck feelings from the past can be as refreshing as taking a shower, and the processes you'll learn can help you let go old feelings faster than taking a shower.
When you're new to town it's nearly impossible to find anyone to meetup and watch football with. I figure, there's got to be others out there like me that would love to meet up to watch games and talk trash.
With the season now at it's end, at this point we are simply establishing our membership and deciding how the events will be planned and executed.
I'm envisioning a list of Sports Bars that we rotate through and try out throughout the season meeting for various football games. Hopefully we find a place or two that wants our business enough to offer discounts or reserved seating.
Obviously, we all can't make it to every game so I'm looking for others to help organize and host events.
I'm thinking we could have football pools at each event to make it a little more interesting and I'm open to other ideas.
The Meetup group does have a cost associated with it but it isn't much...perhaps we build the cost into a portion of the football pool to offset the costs and any profit at the end of the season is spent on a SUPER BOWL PARTY.

This group is dedicated to the promotion and support of live web broadcasting in Utah Valley. This group's events will include reviews of and training on the various broadcasting platforms, equipment, and tricks of the trade. We'll have some social events where members can get to know others who have a similar interest in live streaming video.
I have created this group to meet other couples that enjoy going out a couple times a month to karaoke, drink, be silly, and have fun. once a month, sometimes more, we will do a group date. Sometimes it's dinner and a bar, sometimes its poker night and drinks, another example might be a dance clubbing, or a movie night. Members should be like minded as to what constitutes a good time. Here are a few basic requirements for being in this group: Must be 21 or older with a valid ID (for getting into bars), must like hanging out with new people and being social, must be ok with trying new things (ie: if you have never tried karaoke, but are ok with going to a karaoke bar, or don't usually like bored games but would give it a shot for the fun of it) People who do illegal drugs or abuse alcohol need not apply. You must be willing to leave your drama behind so you can cut loose and focus on having fun! We will have group dates all over the SLC Metro Area including but not limited to: West Valley City, Day Break, Draper, Millcreek, Downtown SLC and everywhere in between. You must be willing to have a designated driver or take a cab if you plan on drinking alcohol. We will have members from all over the valley so at some point we will be close to you and other times we won't. I am excited to meet new couples and have some fun, I hope you are too!
I decided to start this group because I'm tired of just making comments to myself or a couple close friends about how messed up the media/doctors/our culture is in regards to fat people.
For those of you not familiar with the concept of accepting the word "fat" (I didn't come up with the idea on my own), let me just briefly explain: Fat and skinny are descriptive terms about people's body types. I am fat. It's what I am. "Fat" has a negative connotation in our society, but to me, it's not negative and I'm saying people who think it is are either the victims of fat prejudice and haven't gotten angry enough about it yet, or are the perpetrators of fat prejudice. It's what I choose to call myself as opposed to "Obese" and "Overweight"; two offensive terms that accept the proposition that being fat means you're diseased and different.
I know there are many men and women in this very area that are struggling with the same things as me. I am outraged by how prevalent the stereotypes are about us fat people. I am afraid because I can see how ingrained these attitudes are, reaching the legislative system and the healthcare system. But most of all, I'm saddened on an ongoing basis at how difficult it is for me, as a fat person, to love myself. I struggle with this because of the way my fellow people treat me like an outsider just because they don't think I'm the right size and they have been doing so all of my life.
The media exacerbates these false propositions: fat people aren't as good as other people because: They're unattractive, they're irresponsible parents, and they're indifferent to their own health. Commercials rarely have fat people in them in any positive fashion. TV programs rarely feature a fat star or co-star unless they're either A. A bitch or an asshole that stuffs his/her face all the time or B. A totally non-sexual, semi-intelligent, good-for-a-laugh jolly type. Doctors and government tell us we need to change our bodies to be happy and to be healthy. I don't want to scare you. We're not getting together to tear skinny people apart. But I know how hard it can be to love yourself when so many people are telling you to hate yourself. I have been there. I am there.
For the last two years my New Years Resolutions have been only one thing: To Love and Accept Myself. All the other years of my life, save for when I was a very small child, my new years resolution has been to change myself to something "better", something that people will accept. It has been a learning and trying experience for me to confront all of my old beliefs. It has been an enlightening, a freeing, and a terrifying experience as I've embarked on my mission to examine the cultural attitudes toward us fat folks, and I really have just begun.
The vast majority of WIDELY accepted opinions about fat people in general, repeated by your government officials, your doctors and your friends arise from ignorance.
I want to meet other women and men who are fighting the battle to undo all the learning that's been beaten into us from family and friends and media. I want us to, together, remind ourselves that we can be just as beautiful, just as intelligent, just as loveable, just as sexual, just as capable, just as interesting, just as complex, and just as good as the next thin little thing.
I don't really care what stage of the fat acceptance process for yourself you are in. I don't care if you just barely started to feel indignant or if you're downright enraged. I want you all.
I'm looking to get together with a group, once or twice a month and share personal stories, inspiration, information, and support. The times and places will be determined once I've got enough members. We've gotten a good start so far, I hope we continue to grow.
By the way, HAES stands for Healthy At Every Size, which proposes that we can live healthy lives and also be fat, challenging the pervasive belief that being fat and being healthy are opposites.
Most of us have struggled with diet-addictions. It can be hard, especially in the beginning of this journey to completely let go of body-policing ourselves and others. But I want to make sure this group never turns into a weight loss tip sharing network. This is a fat-positive group. We aren't here to discuss changing our bodies. That goes against the whole idea. So, that is my only word of warning. If you can't refrain from conversations such as these, you will be asked to stop, and then to leave.
I have a loving husband who supports me and adores me. I have the support of my family. But I need you, other fat people struggling like I am. I need you in my life. I want to help you love yourself, and I want your help too! Thank You!
In our group, we will support one another as we study together from the book, "A Course In Miracles." We will use the companion commentaries written by many authorities, such as Marianne Williamson's "A Return To Love." This meetup group is intended to provide a performance space for players, students, and aficionados of the classical or flamenco guitar. There are several fine Meetup Groups in the SLC area which are dedicated to the interests of singer-songwriters, bluegrass players, folk music, and beginning guitar students of all styles. Now there is a Meetup group specifically intended for intermediate and advanced classical and flamenco guitarists.
Please note that "classical guitar" is NOT the same as "classic rock". "Classic Rock" is a great genre in and of itself, it's just not what this Meetup Group is all about.
The instrument we play is the unamplified nylon-string guitar, Spanish or Brazilian or otherwise, and also the lute music from the Royal Courts of Europe written centuries ago. We are playing music written by composers such as Dowland, Bach, Sor, Giuliani, Albeniz, Tarrega, Villa-Lobos, Ponce, Barrios, Britten, as well as music by the modern-day composers who are active today. The performers we aspire to emulate include Montoya, Sabicas, Paco Peña, Paco de Lucia, Andres Segovia, Julian Bream, David Russell, Manuel Barreuco, etc.
Group size will necessarily be limited, as we will probably be meeting in people's homes. We will also share information about related performances in the region. We can have community outreach opportunities as well, e.g. options to perform at retirement homes and senior centers.

We would like to focus and combat the things that steal our lives away. Find the right exercise routines that will help us get out of the hurt and the day to day, why me? Also hand in hand we will work on the right food to eat so we don't have the triggers to make us feel awful. We need to work on the mind and the way that we can overcome this through our mind. The fourth part would obviously be the medicine part that we can all share what works since the thing that works the best is taboo in the minds who don't have fibro. I would like to start a monthly outing in addition to our meeting that will help us understand our bodies and the way we can help them physically. ie: hiking, waterfalls, slight jogging on the Jordan River trail. I want this to be a support group that we can lean on eachother and combat this disease that steals our live away.
